Many cities pose as a strategy the recruitment and retention of talent, positioning professionals with an MBA as some of the most sought-after profiles at the international level. Esade Business School has developed the MBA City Monitor, with the aim of analyzing the impact of MBA training on mobility, as well as the most outstanding cities in attracting international talent.

The study, published in 2015, analyzed the impact of 126 international Business School programs, of which 53% are imparted in the United States and Canada and 27% in Europe. Thus, despite Asia's strong impetus in the creation of postgraduate programmes, the West still monopolizes 80% of the offer.

Do you consider studying an MBA abroad? Ivan Bofarull, Director of Analytics & Strategy at ESADE Business School and author of the study, has classified the cities that international students prefer to study an MBA:

1 - Boston (USA). 1,820 International students have chosen this city to pursue their postgraduate studies. Boston highlights the Harvard Business School, a prestigious business school that has ranked the first in two of the five rankings (US News and Business Week), and second in two (Forbes and Financial Times), according to the MBA Ranking of Club-MBA 2016.

2 - New York (USA). The Columbia Business School leads the business schools in this city. In the same region, we find the Yale School of Management and the New York University Stern. Business schools have 1,054 international students.

3 - LONDON (United Kingdom). The first European city in a U.S.-led classification stands out for the London Business School, which ranks third in the Global MBA Ranking 2016 of the Financial Times and Imperial College Business School. It has a total of 1,013 international registrations.

4 - Chicago (USA). In this city we can find the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, ranked 8 in the Global MBA ranking 2016 of Financial Times and second place in the MBA ranking of Club-MBA 2016, a classification that takes into account the appearance in the different Published rankings. It is also home to Northwestern University, Kellogg. Chicago hosts 921 international students.

5 - Barcelona (Spain). The only state city ranked among the top 10 to study an MBA. It has 857 students that are dealt among the different business schools: ESADE, IESE Business School or EADA, to cite some of the best ranked in the rankings. The study's author says that 11.5% of international students who, outside the United States, attend the best MBA, come to Barcelona.

6 - (France). In the French capital, an MBA can be completed at the prestigious Instead School, which ranks first in the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking 2016, or at HEC París, which ranks number 15. The study shows that this city has 830 international students.

7 - Toronto (Canada). A total of 815 international students chose the MBA programs in Toronto for 2015. The most prominent centers are the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, the Richard Ivey School of Business linked to the University of Western Ontario and the Schulich School of Business.

8 - Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina (USA). City hosting the Durham University School and the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, it has 684 international registrations to its MBA programs.

9 - Singapore (Republic of Singapore). The only Asian city in the ranking. It has 669 international students registered. The MBA from the Nanyang Business School of the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, considered among the 30 best MBA in the world by the Financial Times magazine, stands out,

10 - San Francisco-san Jose (USA). Headquarters of some of the major technology corporations such as Facebook, ASUS, Google, Logitech, Oracle... In this region are the Haas School of Business at the University of California Berkeley and one of the Wharton Business School headquarters. They have 662 annual international registrations.
